Butterfly4Volunteers arranges internships and volunteer work abroad for people from all over the world. We identify suitable projects for volunteers who want to contribute to a development project in Kenya-Africa. We started with our volunteer projects with the sole purpose of stimulating the international community get awareness of people´s living conditions in developing countries. We work with volunteers from countries all over the world, offering assistance in the exchange of knowledge, skills and ideas. By doing so, we hope to contribute to meaningful developments, improving the living standard of the less privileged and giving them a chance for a better life.

About our volunteer organization

Butterfly4Volunteers was started in 2009 and was registered in Kenya under the Registrar of Companies as Butterfly Business Network. The main offices are situated in Mombasa. We are continuously searching for suitable projects for you to help passing your skills to the world and to make volunteering abroad a meaningful experience.

Volunteering abroad as a Butterfly

Are you a motivated butterfly? Are you like a  butterfly which flies from flower to flower? In search of nectar and in the process helping pollen to drop from one flower to the other, thereby aiding fertilization? As a butterfly you work with volunteers from countries all over the world, offering assistance in the exchange of knowledge, skills and ideas. Volunteer work by which you contribute to meaningful developments, improving the living standard of the less privileged and giving them a chance for a better life.

Volunteer work abroad is vital

Our mission is to bring awareness to privileged people and enable them to give back to the less privileged. We provide volunteers and interns with an opportunity to serve and gain experience through volunteer work abroad for their personal growth and development. We strive to reach out to as many less fortunate people as possible and be involved in their lives. The vision of Butterfly4Volunteers is to make this world a better place for all human beings. We believe that every person born in this world has the right to a meaningful life and has a right to basic necessities. Your volunteer work abroad will help out in many ways.

Foundation and Sponsors

Anthonie Verheijke and Janet Chamia, founders of the Butterfly Foundation, have always reached out to less fortunate people. Anthonie has worked for many years in the health and mental care in The Netherlands and Janet is a succesfull business woman in Kenya. With Butterfly they would love to disseminate their vision and mission to the world. Naturally, they welcome all well wishers to bring success to the Butterfly Foundation Projects and all of their volunteer work goals. Apart from volunteers and interns, we also welcome generous and kind people who are willing to support the projects financially, as sponsors, or by donating materials to a needy child or person to enable them to live a better life.

Foundation Projects

The Butterfly Foundation was created for supporting practical and "down to earth" iniatives. The funds are allocated to, for example, new classrooms or toiletspaces and sewage systems in a children´s home and other important infrastructural and structural improvements.

Sponsor Projects

Funds given by our Sponsoring Support are also allocated to needy people and children. Small gifts can make a big impact sometimes. For instance, we give toys to children, shoe´s and clothes or we pay their tuition fees to stimulate regular schoolactivities.
